Frequently Asked Questions
Truvaga is drug-free and is safe to use with any prescribed or over-the-counter medication.
We recommend a two-minute session in the morning, and another before bed. But if needed, it’s safe to use up to 24 sessions a day.
You should feel a tingling sensation on the neck where your Truvaga is held. You may feel a downward pulling on your lip; this is the most common muscle contraction seen with Truvaga and indicates you’re in the correct position. You control the intensity level up or down at any time. Sessions should never be painful.
While many experience a downward lip pull on the side you are treating, it’s not necessary in order to receive the full benefit from vagus nerve therapy.
Truvaga is a safe and well-tolerated non-drug therapy. Most side effects are mild, occur while using the product , and disappear soon after each session. In clinical studies, <5% of participants experienced mild side effects, included but not limited to:
- Application site discomfort, irritation, and redness
- Muscle twitching and/or contractions
- Local pain, face/head/neck area (including toothache)
- Mild headache
- Mild dizziness
It is safe to travel with your Truvaga. The product contains lithium batteries, we recommend storing Truvaga in your carry-on luggage to ensure it is not exposed to extreme conditions. One tube of conductive gel is within the TSA liquid carry-on regulation.
Truvaga is a patented technology. A key difference from a TENs unit is that Truvaga utilizes smooth sine waves as opposed to the block waves, resulting in a more gentle experience. Additionally, Truvaga does not require the use of replaceable electrode pads.
We recommend using the highest intensity level comfortably tolerated. This number is different for everyone; users typically feel an optimal intensity between levels 15 and 25. For best results, raise the intensity to a level where you feel a strong tingling sensation or a slight “lip pull”.
Truvaga comes with 350 sessions, which covers up to 6 months of therapy, if used twice per day.
Once you have used all 350 sessions, it’s time to reorder your next Truvaga to get another 350 sessions. While you may use your sessions at your own pace, we recommend two daily sessions (morning and evening).
Once you’ve completed your 350 sessions, you can dispose of your Truvaga as you would a cell phone or other electronic device, or reach out to Customer Support for assistance with recycling options.
No, Truvaga is intended for use on the neck, where the vagus nerve is located and can be properly reached. We have not performed clinical testing on any other part of the body.
